What NOT to send to the Stanford Warehouse

Main content start

We want to help make sure your packages reach you on time, but we need your help.

Please DO NOT use third party delivery services that utilize gig, flex, or app-based drivers to send anything to the Stanford Warehouse. These drivers are the ones using their personal vehicles and phones hired by apps and stores. These include:

  • DoorDash (for non food orders)
  • Instacart (for non food orders)
  • Uber Eats (for non food orders)
  • Shipt
  • Grubhub
  • Amazon Flex
  • Walmart Same-Day
  • Target Same-Day
  • Whole Foods (via Amazon)

Why?

These services use drivers who are not trained to deliver on college campuses. Stanford has locked buildings, very limited parking, and no loading zones for these drivers. They often leave packages in random or unsecure places - hallways, outside locked buildings, or other areas where items are easily lost, misplaced, or taken. Most of these deliveries don’t have names on the items, they are delivered with no boxing or in grocery store bags with no names and no labels. We have relationships with carriers such as Amazon, Fed Ex, UPS, USPS. They understand our campus, have bollard clickers, know where to park, and our warehouse and delivery process – they know how to deliver correctly.

Do NOT send the following to the Stanford Warehouse:

  • Same-day deliveries from above type delivery services and stores above
  • USPS flat mail (e.g., documents, bank statements, passports, etc.)
  • Flowers, food, groceries, or perishable items

If you choose to use these services, send them to your residential address at your own risk, and not to the Stanford Warehouse. But please know: delivery issues to your residence are out of our control. These services are designed for home delivery, not university campuses.

We’re here to support you, but we can’t resolve issues with deliveries made by services that don’t know how to deliver to a campus.

Please see below photos for examples of how these deliveries arrive.
