MPS works with USPS, UPS, DHL, FedEx, Amazon, and all other companies to deliver mail and packages to a central sort station at Stanford’s Newark Warehouse, reducing traffic congestion of about 40-50 trucks per day to campus. Stanford-owned electric vehicles transport the consolidated items from the Warehouse to campus in fewer trips.
Net Zero Emissions Goal
This program advances the university’s net zero emissions by 2050 goal by reducing the transportation emissions associated with the number of delivery trucks to campus and by selecting electric vehicles to fuel its inter-campus deliveries. This electric fleet is owned and operated by the university, which has achieved its commitment of achieving 100% renewable electricity.
Waste Diversion
The two package centers on campus offer an efficient, streamlined, and convenient system for individuals to open up their mail on the spot and properly discard any packaging in the appropriate waste bin.
Zero Waste Goal
With designated areas and easy access to a cardboard breakdown area, the centers help all campus members contribute to the university’s goal towards zero waste, which means sending less than 10% of waste to the landfill while recycling, composting, or reusing the rest.
